The Chattanooga Lookouts will open their final homestand of the regular season tonight against Jackson, and they will do so with two Southern League postseason all-stars who come as no surprise.
Outfielders Max Kepler and Adam Brett Walker II were announced Wednesday as Chattanooga's lone representatives to the league's prestigious 15-member team. Kepler and Walker were each midseason all-stars, with Walker winning June's home run derby in Montgomery.
Kepler enters the final series leading the league with a .327 average. The German-born standout also leads the league in slugging percentage (.540) and on-base percentage (.415), with his numbers bolstered by a sensational May in which he hit .359 (37-for-103) with 13 doubles, two home runs and 14 RBIs.
Walker led all of minor league baseball in June with 11 home runs and has 30 this season, the most for a Lookouts player since professional baseball returned to the city in 1976. He leads the league in homers, extra-base hits (63) and total bases (243), and his league-leading 103 RBIs are a modern-era franchise record as well.
