The Chattanooga Lookouts loaded the bases twice in the ninth inning, but their comeback bid fell short in a 4-3 loss to the Jackson Generals on Saturday night at AT&T Field.

Taking advantage of four walks by Jackson pitchers in the ninth, the Lookouts scored two runs in their last trip to the plate, but the game ended on a lineout to short with runners at second and third.

Earlier in the inning, D.J. Hicks scored when Stuart Turner reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded and Shannon Wilkerson drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk to bring home Stephen Wickens.

Hicks homered to right field in the second, tying the game after the Generals scored their first run in the top half of the inning, but Jackson went ahead for good in the fourth when Leon Landry stole third base and advanced home when the throw to catch him was errant. Jordy Lara's eighth-inning double made it 4-1.

Chattanooga is 75-60 overall and 32-35 in the second half of the Southern League season after winning the North Division's first-half title to clinch a postseason berth. Jackson is 52-83 and 23-44.

Game 4 of the five-game series that will close the regular season is at 6:15 tonight, and it's also Fan Appreciation Night, with the festivities including postgame fireworks. James Gillheeney (4-6, 3.05 ERA) will start for Jackson, with Brett Lee (6-4, 2.89) pitching for Chattanooga.
