Chattanooga native Ryan Martin's first boxing match in 11 months wound up the same as his 13 professional fights in the previous 15 months - as a win.

And for the ninth time in his 14-0 career start, the 5-foot-11 lightweight won by knockout.

Martin won Saturday night at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., against Rosbel Montoya of Mexico, whose record now stands at 16-8-1.

Martin, a 23-year-old Central High School graduate now based in Cleveland, Ohio, had been unable to schedule fights since last July because he was under contract to the promotional company owned by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and tied up by Jackson's bankruptcy filing. Martin's last previous fight was in May 2015.
