Suns down Lookouts second night in a row, 3-0

The Jacksonville Suns finished their five-game Southern League series in Chattanooga with their second consecutive shutout victory Tuesday night.

This one was 3-0, with Jacksonville scoring a run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh and outhitting the Lookouts 8-5.

Ronnie Mitchell homered with one out in the sixth, and Lookouts starting pitcher Felix Jorge (0-3) prevented further damage after J.T. Riddle followed with a triple. Jorge got Brian Anderson to ground out and Alex Glenn to fly out.

Jorge couldn't make it through the seventh, however, despite starting it with two groundouts. Chris Curley lined a single to right field and Cam Maron singled off Jorge's glove, and then Kenny Wilson tripled both of them home before Zack Jones relieved Jorge and struck out Mitchell.

No one had multiple hits for the Lookouts, who dropped to 22-23 for the second half of the league season but remain just above .500 at 58-57 for the year. The Suns also are 22-23 for the half and 52-63 for the season.

Dillon Peters (1-0) allowed five hits in 6 2/3 innings as Jacksonville's starting pitcher, with three walks and five strikeouts. Tyler Higgins and Sean Donatello (seventh save) got the last seven outs with no baserunners allowed. Jorge gave up seven hits and a walk in defeat, but Jones got four consecutive outs with three strikeouts and Jake Reed pitched a one-hit ninth for Chattanooga.

The Lookouts are off today and begin a series at Birmingham on Thursday, with the first pitch set for 8:05 p.m. EDT.
