Lookouts nip Biscuits on Harrison's two-run hit in eighth

Travis Harrison's two-out, bases-loaded single in the eighth inning brought home Engelb Vielma and Zach Granite and gave the Chattanooga Lookouts a 2-1 win over the visiting Montgomery Biscuits on Friday.

The victory at AT&T Field made the Lookouts 28-25 in the Southern League's second half and dropped Montgomery to 29-24 as the second-place team in the North Division, behind Jackson.

With one out against relief pitcher Kyle Winkler (0-2), Vielma walked and Granite singled, and after the latter went to second on Ryan Walker's flyout to center, Niko Goodrum was intentionally walked. Then Harrison came through.

Granite was 3-for-4, raising his season average to .299, but he was picked off just before Walker's triple in the sixth, and then Niko Goodrum made the third out.

Kohl Stewart (7-6) got the pitching win after allowing five hits and one run in eight innings, with five strikeouts, and Raul Fernandez pitched the ninth for his second save of the season. Montgomery starter Brent Honeywell allowed four hits with five strikeouts in six innings, and Jeff Ames had two strikeouts and yielded one hit in the seventh.

Stewart gave up a leadoff single to Jake Bauers and then a walk to Patrick Leonard in the top of the second but then got three straight outs. Bauers scored on the second of those, however - a grounder to third by Granden Goetzman.

The teams continue their series tonight at 7:15 and close it out with a 2:15 game Sunday.
