Chattanooga outfielder Daniel Palka added to his Southern League-leading home run total, but the Lookouts were unable to add another win against the first-half North Division champion Jackson Generals on Friday night.

The Generals used a five-run third inning to pull away early, and the Lookouts were unable to catch up in an 8-2 loss at AT&T Field in front of a crowd of 5,163.

Palka entered the game with four more homers than any other Southern League hitter, and he added No. 17 of the season when he sent Generals starter Andrew Moore's pitch over the wall in right field with two outs in the fifth. That cut Jackson's lead to its final margin.

The Lookouts - who rallied to beat Jackson 6-5 in Thursday's second-half and series opener after finishing 10 games behind them and in second place in the first half - responded after Jackson took a 1-0 lead in the first inning Friday, with Mitch Garver's line-drive single scoring Engelb Vielma to tie in the bottom half. But the Generals used an RBI single by Tyler O'Neill, a bases-loaded triple by Leon Landry and a sacrifice fly by D.J. Peterson to put together their big third inning, then added two more runs in the fifth.

The third game of the five-game series is at 7:15 tonight. Sam Gaviglio (4-3, 3.86) is the scheduled starter for Jackson, with Stephen Gonsalves set to make his first for the Lookouts after being promoted from Fort Myers of the high Single-A Florida State League this week.
