Chattanooga FC win means team will host playoff game Tuesday

The Chattanooga Football Club is coming home for the playoffs.

CFC built a two-goal halftime lead Saturday night against FC Carolina and went on to defeat the home team 3-0 in the regular-season finale in Charlotte, N.C.

CFC earned the No. 2 seed out of the West Division in the NPSL's Southeast Conference and will host Inter Nashville FC - which defeated Birmingham 3-1 Saturday - in a divisional semifinal Tuesday at Finley Stadium. The teams split during the regular season, with each team winning its home match: Chattanooga 2-1 on June 17 and Nashville by the same score on July 1.

Both CFC and Nashville finished the regular season with 6-4-2 league records, but CFC won the tiebreaker based on goal differential, having a plus-20 advantage over its opponents compared to Nashville's plus-10.

Atlanta will host Asheville in the other divisional semifinal, with action moving to New Orleans - the conference's top seed - next weekend. The CFC-Nashville winner will face Knoxville, while the Atlanta-Asheville winner gets the host Jesters on Friday, with the winners of those two matches facing off in the conference championship match Saturday.

Felipe Antonio and Felipe Olivera scored first-half goals for CFC in Charlotte, while Sindre Welo tacked one on for the final tally. Paulo Pita got the win in goal.
