Three Lookouts named all-star starters

Chattanooga will have three players in the North Division's starting lineup for the Southern League All-Star Game on June 20 in Pensacola, Fla.

LaMonte Wade will play left field and bat third, Edgar Corcino will play right field and bat sixth, and Nick Gordon will play shortstop and bat ninth. The Lookouts are the only North team to have three starters among the eight position players.

Gordon collected his fifth home run of the season Thursday night, but it wasn't enough in a 3-2 loss to Jackson before an announced crowd of 3,862 at AT&T Field. Chattanooga dropped to 33-27 after dropping its first-half home finale and trails Montgomery (34-26) and Tennessee (33-26) in the division with 10 games remaining in the first-half race.

Ryan Strausborger and T.J. White doubled in the second inning as the Lookouts took a 1-0 lead, and Gordon's solo shot led off the fifth inning to make it 2-0. Things unraveled for the hosts in the sixth, when Lookouts relief pitcher Randy LeBlanc allowed singles to Kevin Medrano, Travis Denker and Kevin Cron, and a double to Stewart Ijames.

Ijames drove in a run with his hit, while Cron drove in two.

Gordon is hitting .307 entering his final two series of the half. Corcino is hitting .303.

Birmingham's Michael Kopech will be the starting pitcher for the North at the all-star contest. The rest of the starters are Montgomery center fielder Braxton Lee, Jackson second baseman Colin Walsh, Jackson's Cron, who's the first baseman, Jackson designated hitter Rudy Flores, Tennessee third baseman Jason Vosler and Tennessee catcher Ian Rice.

Fernando Romero (4-5, 3.51) is scheduled to start tonight's 8:05 EDT opener in Montgomery for the Lookouts, with Benton Moss (0-0, 000) scheduled for the Biscuits.
