The rain went away, and Star Wars characters came out to play.
Oh, and the Chattanooga Lookouts won again, too.
Fans dressed as Darth Vader, Yoda and Stormtroopers invaded AT&T Field Saturday night as the scorching Lookouts rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on "Star Wars Night." There was no sign of Tropical Storm Cindy, which wiped out Thursday's second-half Southern League opener and delayed Friday's start, and that all added up to a season-high crowd of 6,376.
"This was a great night for Lookouts fans," team president and general manager Rich Mozingo said. "Star Wars, fireworks and good weather is a great combination."
It was the first sellout audience of the season at AT&T Field, topping the previous high of 5,504 for a May 26 contest against Montgomery.
The Lookouts trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, when Edgar Corcino drew a walk, LaMonte Wade singled to left field and Jonathan Rodriguez singled to left to score Corcino and make it a 2-1 game. Andy Wilkins singled to right to score Wade and tie the game and to advance Alex Perez, who came in to pinch-run for Rodriguez, to third.
After Blue Wahoos relief pitcher Geoff Broussard intentionally walked T.J. White to load the bases, Broussard hit Levi Michael with a pitch to end the game.
The North Division first-half champion Lookouts won for the 12th time in 13 games and received a quality pitching start from Felix Jorge. The 23-year-old from the Dominican Republic was one out away from eight scoreless innings when Gavin LaValley doubled to right to score Josh VanMeter and Gabriel Guerrero to put Pensacola up 2-0.
Jorge tallied seven strikeouts.
The Lookouts and Blue Wahoos will play a pair of seven-inning games today as a result of Thursday's rainout, with this afternoon's opener beginning at 4:15. Dereck Rodriguez (0-0, 18.00) and Fernando Romero (6-5, 3.27) are scheduled to start today's games for Chattanooga, with Jose Lopez (2-0, 2.55) and Domingo Tapia (2-2, 2.62) scheduled for Pensacola.
