Chattanooga Lookouts win 11-0 at Birmingham

Starting pitcher Fernando Romero struck out seven batters and allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings Tuesday night as the Chattanooga Lookouts dominated the Southern League series opener in Birmingham. They won 11-0.

Travis Harrison's double to left field scored Ryan Strausborger to put the Lookouts up in the first inning, and they made it 2-0 in the second when Levi Michael led off with a single to right, stole second and scored on Nick Gordon's single to center.

Chattanooga (29-22) blew the game open with a three-run sixth inning, which was highlighted by LaMonte Wade's single to center that scored Ryan Walker and Gordon for a 6-0 lead, and added five runs in the ninth.

Strausborger was 3-for-4 and scored three runs, while Harrison was 2-for-4 and batted in three. Gordon and Wade each was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Michael was 2-for-5 and scored twice.

Game two of the five-game series in Birmingham is tonight, starting at 8:05 EDT. Stephen Gonsalves (0-1, 3.27) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Michael Kopech (3-2, 2.66) scheduled for the Barons.

* Transaction: Lookouts relief pitcher Ryan Eades, who is 2-1 with a 4.65 ERA in 10 appearances (three starts) this spring, has been promoted to Triple-A Rochester (N.Y.).
