Chattanooga Lookouts lose to Mobile Baybears again

The Chattanooga Lookouts rallied twice to keep Mobile from pulling away Thursday night, but they couldn't mount a third comeback to force extra innings and lost 9-7.

There were 3,725 in the stands at AT&T Field for the Lookouts' final home game of the Southern League season's first half, which was also the team's fourth straight loss. Chattanooga (33-27) will play its final 10 first-half games in Alabama, with series against the Montgomery Biscuits and the Birmingham Barons.

The Baybears (33-26) led 6-0 after 4 1/2 innings Thursday, but the Lookouts answered with six runs in the bottom of the fifth.

James Ramsey, Sean Miller, LaMonte Wade and Brent Rooker had four straight singles - Ramsey scored on Wade's hit and Miller went home on Rooker's - before Zander Wiel drew a one-out walk to load the bases. Chris Paul's double cleared them, and Paul advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on Alex Perez's sacrifice fly to center field.

Mobile went back ahead in the seventh as Luis Rengifo led off with a triple and Zach Houchins singled to bring him in, but Chattanooga responded in the bottom half with Edgar Corcino's home run to right that made it 7-all.

In the top of the ninth, Renfigo walked with two outs and moved to third on Brennon Lund's single to right. Lund stole second, and he and Renfigo scored on Houchins' single to left.

In the bottom half, Rooker tripled with two outs but was left stranded.

Rooker finished 4-for-5 and Corcino was 3-for-5.
