Biloxi rallies, beats Lookouts again, 4-2

Biloxi defeated Chattanooga 4-2 in front of an announced crowd of 1,838 at AT&T Field on Monday, sending the Lookouts to their fourth consecutive Southern League baseball loss.

The South Division Shuckers (45-30, 4-1 second half) were down by a run before scoring twice in the top of the eighth inning. They added another run in the ninth.

Chattanooga starting pitcher Kohl Stewart threw 6 1/3 innings and allowed eight hits and two walks. But the only run allowed by the right-hander, who struck out eight, was Jake Gatewood's 14th home run.

The Lookouts' runs came in the seventh. The rally began when Mitchell Kranson singled and Jaylin Davis walked ahead of a one-out double by Alex Perez, who at 2-for-4 was the only Chattanooga player with more than one hit.

Perez drove in the tying run, but Davis was thrown out trying to score on throws by right fielder Clint Coulter and shortstop Gabriel Noriega to catcher Tyler Heineman. Ryan Walker followed with a single to score Perez with the go-ahead run.

Biloxi's Jon Olczak (4-2) was the winning pitcher in relief. Danny Reynolds pitched a perfect ninth and registered his first save.

Sam Clay (1-4) took the loss for the North Division Lookouts, who are now 1-4 in the season's second half and 37-37 overall.

The last in the six-game series is this morning at 11:15.
