Chattanooga FC wins 2-1 over Sounders U-23 team

The Chattanooga Football Club came out victorious in its final tune-up before the regular season, defeating the Seattle Sounders' U-23 club 2-1 Saturday night at Finley Stadium.

After four previous exhibition matches in the past three months resulting in two draws and a pair of losses, Chattanooga FC was able to get a win Saturday with goals by John Carrier and Felipe Oliveira.

Carrier put CFC scored in the third minute, nailing a shot from the left side. That lead held until the 25th minute, when the Sounders converted a corner kick into a goal by Ryan DeGroot.

Oliveira's score came in the 74th minute - just moments after an Emerson Lima goal was waved off for offside - when the Sounders' keeper was unable to corral a shot.

Humberto Palaez and Tom Halsall combined for the win in goal.

CFC started the exhibition season with a 1-all draw against Major League Soccer member FC Dallas on Feb. 3. Next came losses against MLS's Nashville SC (3-1) and fellow National Premier Soccer League member Detroit City 2-1 in Chattanooga, before CFC went on the road and drew 1-1 against the same Detroit City team last week.
