Tanner English, Brent Rooker pace Lookouts to 11-10 victory

Tanner English and Brent Rooker made themselves quite at home Saturday night at AT&T Field for the Chattanooga Lookouts.

As in crossing home plate a combined seven times.

English went 3-for-4 and Rooker 4-for-5 at the top of Chattanooga's batting order, propelling the Lookouts to an 11-10 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits before an announced crowd of 3,342. The win improved the Lookouts to 30-19 and maintained their first-place standing in the Southern League's North Division.

Chattanooga's 1-2 punch set the tone for a productive night in the first inning, when English led off with a single to left field and Rooker followed with a double to left. Both would score, giving the Lookouts a 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, Rooker launched a two-run homer to left that followed an English walk that made it 4-0.

They were back at it in the fourth inning, when an English double to left was followed by Rooker's RBI single to left. Rooker scored as well that inning, as the Lookouts grabbed a 7-4 advantage.

English had an RBI double in the fifth and scored on a wild pitch to give Chattanooga its largest advantage at 9-4.

Entering Saturday night, English was hitting just .195 and Rooker .238. Those averages are now .213 and .254.
