Subero again will manage Lookouts

Carlos Subero will manage the Class AA Chattanooga Lookouts for a second consecutive season, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced Friday, but Subero will bring two newcomers with him.

Franklin Stubbs, a first-round pick of the Dodgers in 1982 and a member of their 1988 World Series championship team, will be Chattanooga's hitting coach. Chuck Crim, who spent most of his eight-year career in the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers, will be the pitching coach.

"I think it is wonderful that Carlos is coming back," Lookouts owner Frank Burke said. "Obviously Franklin Stubbs and Chuck Crim know what it takes to play in the major leagues and are uniquely qualified."

The Dodgers announced their entire player development lineup for 2011, and it included a pair of former Lookouts coaches now in Class AAA.

John Valentin was Chattanooga's hitting coach last season and managed the Lookouts to a 65-74 record in 2008, which was their record again last season under Subero. Valentin has been named hitting coach for Triple-A Albuquerque, which will be managed for a second straight season by Lorenzo Bundy.

Glenn Dishman, who was Chattanooga's pitching coach in '08, will have the same role this season in Albuquerque. Last year's pitching coach for the Lookouts, Danny Darwin, is no longer in the organization.

Stubbs, 50, played in the majors for 10 seasons, compiling 104 home runs and 348 RBIs and posting a career average of .232. Stubbs hit .291 with the Dodgers in 1989 before playing with Houston in 1990, Milwaukee in 1991-92 and Detroit in 1995.

The 49-year-old Crim went 47-43 with a career earned run average of 3.83. He played for Milwaukee in 1987-91, California in 1992-93 and for the Chicago Cubs in 1994.
