CSAS boys defeat McCallie in OT

One day after suffering its first loss of the season, in overtime, Arts & Sciences' basketball team rebounded to knock off McCallie 60-59 in overtime for third place in the annual Best of Preps tournament.

The Blue Tornado had several chances to tie or take the lead both in regulation and the extra period, but fell short on each, including C.J. Reese's missed jumper at the buzzer.

"I though,t going in, if we stayed within 20 points we should feel good because of their talent level," Patriots coach Mark Dragoo said. "They had problems stopping us offensively and our kids just outplayed them. We knew we couldn't run with them so we found ways to slow the pace and stick around for a while."

Chattanooga Christian's girls cruised to a 50-26 win over Tyner for third place.

In other consolation action, Ooltewah defeated Notre Dame 76-63 in the fifth-place game and Baylor beat Dade County 90-75 for seventh place.
