2:00 DRILL: MNF reunion

Don't we know you

Washington quarterback Donovan McNabb and his new team face his old team, the Philadelphia Eagles, tonight on Monday Night Football. The announcing team of Ron Jaworski, Jon Gruden and Mike Trico have several habits - among them the overwhelming urge to say National Football League every time. Not the NFL, not the league, not even professional football. It's always the National Football League. Every time. In fact if you take a sip of the beverage of your choice every time they say National Football League, well, you are either going to be in a Sweet Tea coma or you need to make sure you have some one to drive you home.

About the game

The homestanding Redskins are the 3-point underdog - always a dangerous thing on Monday night in the National Football League. My man Mark, the guy who has his finger on the pulse of the National Football League does not have a feeling either way about this game which means one of two things. First, it means Mark has not gotten over that drubbing his beloved Steeler took last night. Second, it means that a game like this between two evenly matched teams in the National Football League it's best to leave it alone.

There's always next weekend for picking games - it's a long season in the... wait for it... little longer... NOW - the National Football League.

Mocs at home

After opening the season with a loss at Tennessee, the UTC Mocs open their home schedule tonight against Austin Peay and John Shulman is looking for improvement.

"We didn't play very good against Tennessee," UTC's coach said. "We didn't play very hard, and I don't think we were very good. It's important to get better, we have to get better. Let's do that [tonight]."

Two things: One I think this Mocs team has the potential to be pretty good. Two, it's a long season and improvement is more important than wins right now. In some ways it's not unlike the National Football League (I had to sneak one more in there, OK).
