Suns jump out early, beat Lookouts 8-4

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Suns scored a quick six runs and defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 8-4 in a Southern League baseball game interrupted by rain in the seventh inning Tuesday afternoon.

Chattanooga starting pitcher Allen Webster allowed six hits in the first inning, including doubles by Paul Gran and Dallas Trahern and a two-run home run to left field by Luke Montz, as Jacksonville built its 6-0 lead. Travis Denker homered to left-center in the second inning to get the Lookouts on the board, but the deficit was too much to overcome. Webster worked just three innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs.

The Lookouts, still leading the North Division second-half race, are back home to host Birmingham. The five-game series against the Barons at AT&T Field begins at 7:15 tonight. Stephen Fife (1-0, 1.80 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, but the Barons had not announced their starter as of Tuesday evening.
