Three Mocs All-America and more Chattanooga region sports news

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior quarterback Jacob Huesman was on the Beyond Sports Network FCS All-America second team announced Monday, and senior teammates Faysal Shafaat and Davis Tull were third-team selections. That is the first All-America designation for Huesman, who played at Baylor School, while tight end Shafaat and defensive end Tull are multiple honorees. Huesman, a two-time Southern Conference offensive player of the year, passed for 2,371 yards and 23 touchdowns and ran for 1,009 yards and 14 TDs this season, while Shafaat had 34 catches and five scores and Tull had 10.5 sacks in his third season as SoCon defensive player of the year and raised the league's career record for sacks to 37. The Mocs went 10-4 overall and 7-0 in the SoCon and reached the FCS national quarterfinals in their first playoff appearance in 30 years.

Former Alabama and Seattle Seahawks star running back Shaun Alexander will be the special speaker for the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes "Road to Victory" banquet set for Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center, and the public is invited to join area FCA players, coaches and supporters. Individual tickets cost $50 with tables for eight available for $350 and special sponsorships ranging from $500 to $5,000.
