Inky Johnson, the inspirational former University of Tennessee football defensive back who had his career cut short by a gruesome injury in 2006, will be the guest speaker for the elaborate opening ceremonies of the annual Bradley County Youth Basketball All-Stars weekend at Ocoee Middle School. The opening festivities are set for 5:30 p.m. Friday. The tournament itself will start after Johnson's motivational address, projected from 6 to 6:20, but individual free-throw, 3-point and modified-goal slam-dunk contests will be held Thursday evening along with a coaches' game. Admission for each day of the tournament costs $5 for adults and $3 for high school and middle school students, with elementary students admitted free. Weekend bands cost $15 for adults, $10 for students. The tournament includes six boys' and six girls' grades-2-3 teams and six boys' and six girls' grades-4-5 teams. Former Lady Vols basketball star Chamique Holdsclaw was the special speaker last year. After running from 8 a.m. until probably after 10 p.m. Saturday, the tournament will wrap up Sunday after an 11:30 a.m. church service on site.
