The 2015 schedule for the Braves Country Caravan was released Monday, and the Chattanooga visit has been set for Jan. 29. The caravan is sponsored again by Academy Sports + Outdoors and begins Jan. 20 at Warner Robins. Specifics about the local stop will be announced later, but an autograph session for fans will be included.

Basketball

* Dalton State senior center Ladaris Green was named the Southern States Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week for his role in league wins over Mobile and Belhaven. Green, the SSAC leader in rebounds, blocked shots and double-doubles, totaled 23 points and 21 rebounds in the two victories. He leads NAIA Division I with his average of 12.07 rebounds per game. This was the second SSAC honor this season for Green and the third for a Roadrunner in five voting periods.

* Erin Walsh and Emileigh Swafford scored 23 points each as Lee University edged visiting West Alabama 58-55 in Gulf South basketball Monday night, but West Alabama won the men's game 71-55. Swafford made 14 of 17 free throws and Walsh was 6-of-6 for the Lady Flames (8-3, 5-3), who got 10 rebounds by Christina Johnson and three steals by Carrie Cheeks. Senior guard Cory Billingsley had 17 points and matched Bryce Copeland's three steals for the Flames (9-4, 4-4), while Stedmon Ford added 11 points. Kenric McCants led five double-figure scorers with 21 points for West Alabama (9-7, 4-4).

* Tennessee Temple lost two close basketball games Monday at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla., 70-69 in the women's contest and 89-86 in the men's. Alyssa Ramos and Bailey Hooker scored 25 and 19 points for the Southeastern women (8-3), while Amanda Rector had 22 and Angel Foster, Bree Smith and Kristina Pumpure added 15, 12 and 11 for the Lady Crusaders (3-7), Pumpure with five assists. They made a strong rally after trailing by 22 with 17:32 to play. The Crusaders (4-9) similarly came from 19 down at 16:13 to almost catch up. They were led by Weedlens Beauvil with 23 points on 7-of-17 3-point shooting and Bryan Jones and Cameron High with 15 and 12 points. Andre Winston scored 33 points and Timothy Mitchell had 25 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots for the 8-3 winners.
