Maggie Scott set for state golf hall of fame and more Chattanooga region sports news

The four new members chosen for 2015 induction in the Tennessee Golf of Fame include Maggie Scott from Charleston, who has won 10 Tennessee Golf Association tournaments and been the TGA senior women's player of the year 12 times. She won her first TGA state title, the Women's Amateur, in 1994. The other new inductees are historian Gene Pearce, former Civil War drummer boy and Nashville Golf and Country Club president Horace Smith and state women's golf pioneer Edyth Duffield. Details about the induction ceremonies will be announced later.

Basketball

* Tennessee Wesleyan's Jenna Adams was the Appalachian Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week after leading the first-place Lady Bulldogs to two wins last week, averaging 17.5 points and 16 rebounds in the process. The 6-foot-1 senior from Etowah scored 20 points in Saturday's 53-48 nonconference win over Cumberland University, and she had three steals and two blocked shots in the 75-58 defeat of Bryan College. Her 13-of-23 shooting from the field included 4-of-9 success on 3-pointers. She is third in NAIA Division II with 11.44 rebounds per game.

* After losing at St. Catharine on Saturday, the Tennessee Wesleyan men's basketball team got back at the Kentucky school with an 87-69 victory Monday night in Athens. Charles White had 24 points, eight assists and three steals for TWC (7-8), while Stephen Kite Jr. was 4-for-6 on 3-pointers and totaled 18 points and Leland Robinson had 16 points and 15 rebounds. Lorenzo Dewberry led St. Catharine with 19 points.

* The Lee University basketball teams had mixed success in their Gulf South doubleheader Monday night at Mississippi College. Lee's Lady Flames (9-4, 6-4) won 66-44 after taking a 17-3 lead with an early 15-0 run. Kayla Beavers scored 12 points, Emileigh Swafford and Shelby Brown each tallied 11 and Erin Walsh had 10 points and five steals for Lee, whlie Christina Johnson had 16 rebounds and three steals and Alex Swope registered nine assists. The Lee guys lost 73-72 on Tristan Moore's layup with five seconds to go. Moore led five double-figure Choctaws with 13 points. Jervon Johnson and Cory Billingsley scored 21 and 20 for Lee (9-6, 4-6), and Tyquan Roberts had 11 points and eight rebounds.

* Cameron High had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Tennessee Temple men's basketball team in Monday's game at Middle Georgia State, but the Crusaders lost 71-53 after being tied 34-34 at halftime. Weedlens Beauvil was 3-of-12 on 3-point shots and totaled 11 points for Temple (4-11), while Brandon Ingleton led five double-figure scorers for the 6-9 hosts with 16 points and added eight rebounds. Middle Georgia State also won the women's game, 85-64, as Tascianna Taylor had 23 points and 13 rebounds and Shaketa Hodges also scored 23 points, with seven assists and seven steals. Amanda Rector contributed 22 points, six assists and five steals for the Lady Crusaders (5-9), while Kristina Pumpure scored 12 points and Angel Foster had 10 points and four blocks.
