University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore Jasmine Joyner was chosen as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association women's basketball player of the week after leading the Mocs to the Southern Conference tournament championship. Joyner averaged 17.3 points, 13 rebounds and 3.7 blocked shots for the three games in Asheville, N.C., and was voted the tournament most valuable player. She had 26 points, 20 rebounds and three blocks in the semifinal win over Furman and holds the Southern Conference record for blocks in a season with 129.

Track & Field

* Tennessee Wesleyan's Avery Hubbard from Red Bank won the men's 60-meter dash at the NAIA indoor track and field meet last weekend at Geneva, Ohio. His time was 6.75 seconds. The Bulldogs' Joseph Mullen also was an All-American with a sixth-place finish in the 3000, and the men's distance medley relay team of Jacob Simmons, Jake Morgensten, Chad Whitehead and Mullen earned All-American status as well with a fifth-place showing after breaking the school record with a 10:06.06 in the semifinals. TWC was 15th in the men's standings.

Golf

* The UTC men's golf team again lowered its aggregate score, to 296 on Tuesday, but finished 12th out of 16 teams in Auburn's Tiger Invitational at Opelika, Ala. The Mocs' total of 899 was three behind Mercer. Auburn won by 28 strokes with an 839. UTC's Ewan Scott tied for 33rd individually at 222 with Wes Gosselin at 226, Kory Webb at 229, Liam Johnston at 230 and Andrew Weathers at 232. Gosselin shot a 69 and Johnston had a 71 Tuesday.

* With the final round of the Grover Page Classic men's golf tournament rained out Tuesday at the Jackson (Tenn.) Country Club, Lee University tied for fourth place. The 12-school field included eight NCAA Division I teams, and the Division II Flames wound up at 580, only four strokes behind co-leaders UT-Martin and Tennessee Tech, with Eastern Kentucky at 579. UTM beat Tech in a three-hole playoff. Murray State and Southern Illinois also tied for fourth. Lee's Peyton Sliger and Tyler Davis tied for eighth and 10th individually at 143 (71-72) and 144 (71-73), and Shea Sylvester was 13th at 145 with Mark Strube at 146.

* Dalton State's Sean Elliott finished second individually at 210 and Coastal Georgia's Hunter Cornelius from Heritage High School tied for third at 214, each with a 3-under-par 69 Tuesday, in the Sand Shark Classic at the Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, S.C. Defending NAIA champion Coastal Georgia was the team winner with an 854, led by medalist Alastair Tidcombe's 205, and Dalton State tied for third with Johnson & Wales at 873. USC Beaufort was second at 860. Dalton State's Levi Nix tied for 12th at 219 and teammates Maxmillian Bruck and Chase Jones shared 21st at 223, with Anthony D'Angelo tied for 28th at 227.

* The Dalton State women's golfers are seventh out of 14 teams after the first round Tuesday of the Seminole State Spring Break Classic at Lake Mary, Fla. NCAA Division I member Appalachian State leads at 305, and Radford, USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb and Wofford are other DI teams ahead of the Roadrunners' 334. Detroit follows at 335. DSC's Erika Wardzinski is tied for sixth individually at 77, and Caroline Griffin is tied for 13th at 80.

Baseball

* The University of Indianapolis scored six runs in the seventh inning and beat the Lee University baseball team 7-6 on Tuesday at Olympic Field in Cleveland. Brady Thomas was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and five RBIs for Indianapolis (2-5). Cameron Scott batted in two runs and Travis Perkola was 2-for-4 and scored two for Lee (12-7-1), which also got two hits apiece from Trenton Hill, Andres Nelo and M.J. Brown. Dakota Fowler allowed four hits and one run in his three-inning stint as the Flames' starting pitcher, and Michael James followed with three hitless innings.

Lacrosse

* Mallory Grimm had six goals and two assists, Relly King had five goals and one assist and Sally Anne Greenwood added four goals as the Sewanee women's lacrosse team improved to 4-0 with a 22-16 home win Monday against Wooster. Katie Riddle had three goals and two assists for Sewanee.
