Chattanooga State's Goss, Underwood honored and more Chattanooga region sports news

Chattanooga State had one baseball Tiger named TCCAA player of the week and another named the NJCAA Division I player for games of March 2-8. Jo Jo Underwood was 7-for-11 with six RBIs and four runs scored in the weekend games against Roane State, and Michael Goss was the national honoree after going 7-for-9 with four doubles. "Obviously we are proud of both Jo Jo and Michael," Tigers coach Greg Dennis said. "Both had outstanding weeks, though, and while Michael had fewer official ABs and more doubles, Jo Jo had a superb weekend from the RBI standpoint." Dennis also put in a nomination for pitcher Zach Thompson, who pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts against Roane. The Tigers likely will have their weekend TCCAA series at Volunteer State pushed back to Sunday and Monday and then will host the Piedmont College junior varsity Tuesday.
