Lamar Sitton

Walter Lamar Sitton, 70, lifetime resident of Signal Mountain passed away on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010. He was a graduate of the class of 1958 from Red Bank High School. He was a charter member of Signal Mountain Baptist Church where he was the 9-10 years old Sunday School teacher, and later Senior High director. He was a deacon of Signal Mountain Baptist Church for many years and served on various boards. He worked for Sears for 17 years, then was contractor and owner of Lamar Sitton Construction and Realty. He was a past member of the Home Builders Association, Chattanooga and Tennessee Board of Realtors, as well as the National Association of Realtors. Most recently he was the owner of Sitton Plumbing and Electric. He was also a past member of the Signal Mountain Lions Club. Mr. Sitton was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Pence Farmer and Frank Sitton, by his granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Sitton and by nephew, Trey Young. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Beverly Ann Sitton; children, Lisa Sitton, Gregg (Amy) Sitton, Susan (William) Christopher, Brian (Jill) Sitton; grandchildren, R.J., Whitt, Coleman, Kelsey, Laura Paige Sitton and Will, Mary Hadley and Emma Grace Christopher, sister, Mildred Delk; brother, Jerry (Syble) Sitton, Doug (Diane) Sitton, Frank (Betty) Sitton; sister-in-law, Jane Anderson,and several nieces and nephews: Robert (Leila) Anderson, Jason Anderson, Karen (Mike) Hale, Carolyn (Don) Breeding, and Scott (Kim) Sitton, and mother of Natalie Nicole Sitton, Mattie. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, with the Rev. Steven Wright officiating at the Signal Mountain Baptist Church, 939 Ridgeway Ave., Signal Mountain, TN 37377. Pallbearers will be Doug and Jerry Sitton, Brian and Gregg Sitton, Whitt, Coleman and R.J. Sitton, and Harold Stewart. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
