FORT OGLETHORPE Samuel David Wise, 68, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.He was born Oct. 8, 1941, to George B. Wise and Dorothy Akins Wise Johnson, and lived his entire life in Catoosa County. Sam was a well known area paint and body specialist having been in the business for over 40 years. He was owner and operator of the ACME Welding and Body Shop. People would come from all over the United States to have Sam do work on their specialty cars. Sam had an eye and touch that was years ahead of the auto repair industry. He loved street rods and was a member of NSRA and a lifetime gold member of ISCA. He won many honors with his cars over the years. Sam was a member of Boynton Baptist Church and attended Clearview Baptist Church.Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Faye Hegwood Wise; daughter, Carrie Wise, Ringgold; stepdaughters, Tammy (Donald) Pahle, Thompson Station, Tenn., LaSonya (Mack) Dover, Ringgold; grandchildren, Skip Hall, Nicole Pahle, Dylan Pahle and Houston Dover; brother, Jerry Wise; nephew, Dylan Wise; brother-in-law, Ray Land; sister-in-law, Bernice Orr, all of Ringgold. Special survivors are his cousin, Tommy Akins and his best friend, Paul Myers.The family wishes to give a special thanks to Hutcheson Hospice.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Herman Kapherr officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by Jimmy Orr.Interment in Daily Hills Cemetery.The family will receive friends from noon-9 p.m. today and 9-2 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
