Aubrey Horton

Aubrey Shelton Horton, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, in Melbourne, Fla., with his family at his side.Born in Danville, Ga., on April 10, 1938, Aubrey spent his childhood in Tampa, Fla. At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. Then he moved with his family to Chattanooga, where he worked for 17 years at TVAs Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, retiring in 1992. During his post-retirement years, he enjoyed restoring antique cars and traveling with his wife to car shows around the country. Aubrey was much loved and will be sorely missed by his wife of 42 years, Ruby Lee, eight children; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a large extended family and many close friends.A celebration of life will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the family property. There is no parking at the site. All guests are asked to park at Morris Hill Baptist Church, 1804 Morris Hill Road, Chatanooga, where shuttle service will be provided.Donations can be made to American Lung Association or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.All are invited to share memories of Aubrey at www.affuneral.com.This announcement is by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, North Chapel.
