Edna Stubbs

CROSSVILLE Edna Duncan Stubbs, 95, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011.She was born July 11, 1915 in Knox County, Tenn., the daughter of Josephus and Ella Lewis Duncan. She was an elegant Christian lady who had a flair for beauty accessories and proper dress. She worked until the age of 75 in the cosmetics counter at Smith Rexall and later in ladies fashion at Catos. She was also a faithful member for more than 60 years at Homestead Baptist Church. The strength and courage she kept throughout her life will always be an inspiration to her family and friends.She is survived by her children, Sam E. Stubbs, of Rochester, Minn., Ella Turner, of Crossville and Lonas Stubbs, of Chicago, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Betty Stubbs, of Crossville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Pete Stubbs; and son, Billy Pete Stubbs.Funeral services were held Monday, April 25, 2011, at 8 p.m. from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home.Burial was in Crossville City Cemetery. Dr. Brian Smith officiated.Pallbearers were Mike Stubbs, John Stubbs, Sam Stubbs, Larry Taylor, Blake Taylor, Hunter York, Houston York and Hayden York.
