Anthony Stephens

Anthony L. Stephens 53, of Hephzibah (a suburb of Augusta), Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2011He worked for the Department of Defense for more than 30 years, was a Veteran of the United States Air Force at Fort Gordon, Ga. Mr. Stephens was a member of Pathway Baptist Church of Chattanooga/Ooltewah and a Mason with the Patmos Lodge #348.He was preceded in death by his father, L.C. Stephens; brother, Michael Stephens; grandparents, Leonard C. Sr. and Florence Stephens, Grady and Hazel Schmitt Blackwell, both of Chattanooga.Survivors include his mother, Mickey Chattin and step-father, Jim Chattin, of Chattanooga; adopted daughter, Amelia Easter, of Texas; brother, Robin (Ruth) Stephens, of Chattanooga; sister, Crystal (Scott) Gaylor of Rome, Ga.; nephews, Stephen and Anthony Tucker Gaylor of Rome, Ga.; ieces, Shannen Gaylor and Kristen (Andrew) Scarber, of Rome, Ga.; niece, Katrina (Michael) Mohamed, of Chattanooga; nephews, David Stephens and Idel Suira of Orlando, Fla., and several special friends from the Department of Defense and military.Funeral services will be held noon Tuesday at Pathway Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Smith officiating.Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
