John Mullican

John "Johnny" W. Mullican, 90, formerly of Chattanooga, currently a resident of Crossville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011.He was born on April 9, 1920, in McMinnville, Tenn., to the late James A. and Bessie Lou Davies Mullican. John was a 1938 graduate of McMinnville High School and a graduate of Tennessee Technical University where he played football. He served our country during World War II in the Navy and retired from the Chattanooga Naval Reserves Unit in 1980 as Lt. Commander. Johnny also retired from TVA as a Civil Engineer in the Maps and Survey Branch. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. John was a member of the Chattanooga Engineers Club and the Chattanooga Investment Club. He was an avid golfer and a member of Lake Tansi in Crossville. John was a Mason and Shriner.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laverne H. Mullican; three sons, Jim (Cindy) Mullican, John "Buddy" (Leslie) Mullican and Dave (Leslie) Mullican; grandchildren, Ben (Emma) Mullican, Mary (Jason) Perrine, Christopher "Chris" Mullican, Clint and Drew Mullican; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Mullican, Claire and Trevor Perrine; sister, Peggy Burris; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. EST today at the North Chapel.Services for Mr. Mullican will be held at 11:30 a.m. EST on Monday at the North Chapel with the Rev.
