Leah James

Leah James 106, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at St. Barnabas.She was born July 29, 1904 in Cheriton, Va. to Anne and Cyrus James. She was a graduate of William and Mary with degrees in History and social work. She worked on the restoration of Williamsburg Va. Historical Index, was the Executive Director of Family Service Agency of Chattanooga for 22 years.The Community Foundation Leah James Fund was established by her staff members for a yearly grant for graduate social work, in the 1950s, 60s and 70s drove across america camping with family members. She is survived by her nieces, nephews and a foster son.Services will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 20, 2011 at Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga.J.Avery Bryan Funeral Home 423-266-2131 is honored to serve the James family.
