Frances Thomas Sontag, 88, went home to be with the Lord and loved ones on Thursday, March 24, 2011.She was a member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church for 29 years. She rejoiced in singing in with the Chancel and Handbell Choirs. She loved volunteering in the church library. Mrs. Sontag was a life time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mrs. Sontag readily volunteered with the Multiple Sclerosis Society for many years.Mrs. Sontag was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sontag; parents, William Franklin Thomas Sr, and Sadie Morgan Thomas; brothers, Wallace M. Thomas, Eugene Samuel Thomas (Wanda), Charles Scott Thomas Sr. (Elizabeth); and nephew, James Thomas (Peggy).Survivors include one brother, William Franklin (Mildred) Thomas Jr., of Chattanooga; nieces, Mary F. Bunch and Lyndia S. Thomas of Red Bank and Nora (Bobby) Faulkenberry, of Ringgold, Ga.; nephews: Richard E. Thomas (Angela) of Moneta, Va., Donald L. (Diane) Thomas, Charles S. (Brenda) Thomas Jr., of Hixson and William E. Thomas, of Soddy-Daisy. She is also survived by several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace with Dr. Daniel Sansbury officiating.
