Clarence Gaines

Clarence Gaines Sr., 79, formerly of Chattanooga, departed this life on Friday, April 29, 2011, at his Portland, Ore., residence. He was a 1948 graduate of Howard High School and a graduate of Tennessee State University where he played on the football team for both schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lee Gaines, Daddy Gaines; and sister, Mary Frances Gaines Ammons. Survivors include his wife, Doris Gaines; four children, Clarence Jr., Angela, Adrienne and James Gregory; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, all of Portland, Ore.; a host of family and friends. Arrangements are announced later by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga Inc.
