Porter Yarbrough, 68, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.Ernest Porter Yarbrough Jr. was a Chattanooga businessman with unfailing faith in Christ, even in the face of terminal illness.During the final weeks of his life on this earth, he gave his testimony at numerous venues, with hope that his own personal experiences might lead others to Christ.He was a longtime, faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga and an active volunteer with Prison Preventive Ministries for a number of years.His business life in real estate began in 1968. Two years later he formed the Porter Yarbrough and Associates Real Estate Brokerage Co. In 1982 he moved to Sarasota, Fla., where he enjoyed five years of business success as a commercial real estate broker. He returned to Chattanooga in 1987 and continued working in commercial real estate and development.An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, golf and gun collecting. He was known by many for his great sense of humor and unflagging optimism.He was preceded in death by his parents. Ernest Porter and Jennieve B. Yarbrough.Left to cherish his memory are his daughters and son-in-law, Jill Yarbrough, Kristie (Mark) Danby; grandson, Mark Danby III; granddaughter, Anna Danby; brother, Robert (Lynn) Yarbrough; sister, Shonnye; as well nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, 554 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37402, with Rev. Jerry Harwood and Rev. Jim Suddath officiating.Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist East Chapel and on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.Memorial contributions may be made to Prison Prevention Ministries, P.O.
