Bessie Eakins

DAYTON Bessie W. Eakins, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.She was a longtime resident of Rhea County, she was of the Holliness faith.She was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Jannie Gennoe; first husband, Charlie Filyaw; second husband, Earl Eakins; two daughters, Shirley Nixon, Brenda Freels; two brothers, Bryant and Shaver Gennoe; four sisters, Alice Childs, Eloina Trueblood, Hazel Bishop and Sarah Powers.Survivors include daughter, Joan (Glen) Nunley; five sons, Leroy (Geraldine) Filyaw, Tommy (Sharon) Filyaw, Robert (Teresa) Filyaw, Charles (Carmileta) Filyaw and Jacky (Vickie) Filyaw, all of Dayton; three sisters, Elizabeth Gennoe, Cleveland, Tenn., Nannie Dunn, Decatur, Tenn., and Mary Sue Clark, Joelton, Tenn.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Rev.
