LaFAYETTE Laura Cordell Comer Stephenson, 95, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011.She was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Laura Neely Cordell and stepmother, Frankie Pease Cordell. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Grant Comer; late husband, LeVoy Stephenson; brothers, Robert (Eleanor), Frank (Mary Lou) Cordell; sisters, Hattie (Roscoe) DeBord, Mary (Paul) Ezell, Dovie (James) Manning; brother-in-law, Ray Lamb, all of Walker County, Ga.She is survived by her sister, Ann Lamb; several nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends, Lowell and Mary Frances Thomas and family of Powder Springs, Ga.She was retired from Lockheed Air Craft Corporation since 1977 with 25 years of service following 14 1/2 years of employment at Regal Textile Corporation and a shorter period of employment at Arrow Shirts. Laura had been a member of LaFayette First Baptist Church since 1979, a member of the Joy Sunday School Class, Mary Christian Circle and served on the church social committee. Her main hobby seemed to be hard work. Each year she would have a large very productive garden and enjoyed sharing it with her family, neighbors and friends.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, LaFayette, with Rev.
