Alton Sims

Alton Rovan Sims, 59, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, in a Hopkinsville, Ky., hospital.He was an Air Force veteran and was formerly employed by TVA.He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Sims; mother, Pauline Dozier Sims; grandmother, Eldora Magby.Survivors: wife, Helen Sims, of Hopkinsville, Ky.; son, Brian Sims, of Anchorage, Alaska; two stepsons; one stepdaughter; two grandchildren; brother, Calvin Sims; sisters, Irene Sims Eubanks and Thelma Collier; aunt, May Helen Percy, all of Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, cousins; special friend, Valerie Poindexter and many other friends. The body will lie-in-state at 9:30 a.m. Monday with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Rosetta Rowe officiating.Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga Inc.
