CLEVELAND Bernard Delashmitt, 83, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012.Bernard served in the United States Army and was awarded the Soldiers Medal for driving an ammunition truck away from a danger zone in Korea, thereby saving several lives.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Maroon Delashmitt; one daughter, Kimberly Diane and one son, Johnathan Lee; his parents, Paul and Vio Delashmitt; one sister, Pauline Reed.He is survived by his daughter, Belinda Delashmitt Whitten, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Stephanie Whitten Kerr and Hilliary Whitten Green, both of Franklin, Tenn., and Savannah Whitten Hoehn, of Nashville; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Price, of Cleveland. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Laurel Hill Lebanon Church Cemetery with Rev. Russell Maroon officiating. Military honors will conclude the service.His family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.The family would like to thank and acknowledge the Gates Family of Cleveland who are long time family friends.The family suggests that donations be made to The American Heart Association, 519 E.
