Alvin Simmons, 72, passed away on April 23, 2012, at a local healthcare facility.He was formerly employed at Mountain City Club.He was preceded in death by his wife, Ommie Simmons; parents, Ruthie Mae Simmons and Shannon Simmons Sr.Survivors include his children, Anthony, Albert and Shannon Simmons, Cassandra Moore and Debra Simmons; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Chapel with Pastor Kevin Adams officiating.Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.The body will lie in state from noon5 p.m. today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
