Geanell Evans

RINGGOLD Geanell McAdams Johnson Evans, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.She was born in Haralson County, Ga., to the late Anderson and Bessie McAdams, but had lived in the North Georgia area since 1964 and was a member of Rossville Church of God of Prophecy. She was very involved with her church family and was also very active with the Rossville Senior Citizens Group as well as the RossWoods Adult Day Services in Dalton, Ga. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Foster Johnson; second husband, Frank Evans Sr.; sons, Clarence and Paul Johnson; daughter, Joyce Letrica Johnson; four stepsons, Paul Evans, Marion Evans, J.R. Evans and Frank Evans Jr.; stepdaughter, Ruby Shaw; granddaughter, Missy Thacker; four sisters, Gladys Wood, Mildred Smith, Inez Gray and Evelyn Sanders; and brother, Corbett McAdams.Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edsel (Shelia) Johnson, of Ringgold; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Roy) Cornelius, of West Minster, Calif.; five stepchildren, Louise Hembree, Vernell Pliske and Rebecca Cohran, all of Douglasville, Ga., Brenda Ward, of Winston, Ga., and David Evans, of Carrollton, Ga.; two sisters, Lucille Hall, of Fort Payne, Ala., and Frances Dixon, of Henagar, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Doug Stephenson and Rev. Carl Jackson officiating.Burial will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.The family will begin receiving friends after 5 p.m. today and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
