Alice McKinney

Alice Grace Moses McKinney, 97, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at her residence.She was a member of the Tyner United Methodist Church, a member and past teacher of the Tom Dye Sunday School Class, past member of the Care Bears, visiting the sick and homebound and a member of the Quilting Girls. She was a member of the Goodsprings Baptist Church in McMinn County for many years before moving to Chattanooga in 1984. She taught Sunday School, was active in the Womens Missionary Society and for many years wrote a column for the weekly newspaper, The Etowah Enterprise. She loved to fish, to sew, to quilt and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grands, many of whom she taught to fish. One of her favorite pastimes was watching sports on TV, her favorite teams being the Vols, the Braves and the Colts. She was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Susanna Burton Clark Moses and was also the wife of the late Henry Mansier "Mack" McKinney, Sr.. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Nona Pickens, Henrietta Bivens, Effie Wall, Vida Crittenden and Imogene Moses; four brothers, Howard, Horten, Chester, Conway, and Otis Moses. She is survived by her son, Henry M. (Mac) McKinney, Jr.; granddaughter, Pamela (Roger) Burton; great-grandson, Brandon (Alicia) Deal; great-great-granddaughter, Lily; great-great-grandson, Keath; grandson, Rob (Jan) McKinney; great-granddaughters, Amanda and Emily; grandson, Keath (Jo) McKinney; daughter, Beatrice (Don) Sluder; granddaughter, Kelley (Jim) Lowe; great-grandsons, Daniel (Manuela) and Eric; daughter, Alberta (Bob) Keylon,; granddaughter, Suzanne (Denton) Ridge; great-granddaughter, Grace (Thomas) Becktold; granddaughter, Stacey (John) Reid; great-granddaughters, Alicia (Brandon) Peeples and Katherine Reid; great-grandson, Andrew (Rose) Weyler; son, Charles Edward (Dolores) McKinney; grandson, Charles McKinney, II; great-grandsons, Trey and Ben; granddaughter, Jodie (Tony) Mull; great-grandsons, Adam and Patric; granddaughter, Crystal (Danny) Smith; great-granddaughters, Devan and Paige; two sisters, Neva Hammonds and Marie Crittenden, both of Etowah, Tenn.; brother, Cecil Moses, Athens, Tenn. The family request memorial contributions may be made to the Tyner United Methodist Church, 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles Harrison and the Rev. Natalie Smart officiating. Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. in the Goodsprings Cemetery in McMinn County, TN.
