DUNLAP Carl Ray Adams, 88, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012.Born in 1924 in Townsend, Tenn., he graduated from Townsend High School, served his country in the United States Army, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1953. Carl moved his family to Dunlap in 1954 where he served as the Agriculture teacher for 10 years, served as the superintendent of Sequatchie County Schools for 10 years, worked with the Tennessee Department of Education, and ended his career as the City Judge of Dunlap.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vera; son, David (Debbie) Adams, of Signal Mountain; daughter, Susan (Robert) Garner, of Kingston; daughter, Janis Kyser, of Cleveland. His grandchildren include Heather Frizzell, of Cleveland, Heath Frizzell, of Dunlap, Matthew (Lauren) Garner, of Kingston; and his great-granddaughter, Annaston Frizzell.Carl was an active member of Dunlap United Methodist Church. He was a servant to the people of Sequatchie County and Tennessee by serving on numerous boards and as a mentor to many students.In lieu of flowers, the family request that to honor his love of hunting, a donation be made in Carls name to the Sequatchie County Youth Hunter's Association.
