Juan Flores

Juan Flores, 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.Born in San Antonio, Texas, he was raised in Eagle Pass, Texas and had lived in Austin, Texas before moving to the Chattanooga area more than 61 years ago.Mr. Flores received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas. He went on to receive his M.S. degree in engineering administration from the University of Tennessee and was a certified quality engineer with ASQC. He retired from DuPont as a senior engineer after many years of service.He was a charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church and was active in local affairs, including the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Ladies of Charity, Texas Exes, RSVP and the Dupont Retirees Club.Mr. Flores was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller; brother, William Flores; sons, Ricardo Daniel and Carlos Alberto Flores; and a daughter, Maria Victoria Flores Rogers.Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Maria Amalia "Mollie" Flores; son, Juan Antonia Flores Jr.; brother, Rudolfo Flores; grandchildren, Stephanie Iris Rogers and Jonathan H. Rogers; and one great-grandchild, Evelyn T. Rogers.A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 3, 2012, at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Charlie Burton officiating.Fred Coats, Don Fahm, Bob Lahiere, Munsen Makansi, Ben Peace, Al Reaves, Lane Wyse and Gene Vredeveld will serve as honorary pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, or the Ladies of Charity.Condolences and memories may be shared with the family by visiting www.hamiltonfuneraloptions.comArrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services; 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, 423-531-3975.
