Sarah Ruth HilliardSarah Ruth Hilliard, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.She had a natural talent for music and was an accomplished pianist. She always saw the beauty and goodness in everything and had a remarkable sense of humor. She took pride in winning the local Betty White lookalike contest. Her zest for life, kindness and keen sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Sarah Ruth graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1940 and was a devoted member of the reunion planning committee. She retired from TVA after 33 years of service. Sarah Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church Chattanooga and a former member of White Oak Baptist Church. She worked for twelve plus years as a volunteer for "Changed Lives" and she enjoyed fellowship with "Its a Wonderful Life" of First Presbyterian Church.She was preceded in death by husband, David M. Hilliard; son, David M. Hilliard Jr.; granddaughter, Sarah F. Hilliard; great-granddaughter, Destiny Morgan; her parents, Ruth Johnson Free and Clifford Edwin Free, of Chattanooga.Sarah Ruth is survived by her sons, Stanley M. Hilliard, Alan S. Hilliard; and granddaughter, Stephanie Bain, all of Chattanooga; sister, Dorothy Free Thurmond, of Carlsbad, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel.Services for Sarah Ruth will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel with Ben Haden and Dr. Thomas Quisenberry officiating.Burial will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.Memorial contributions may be made in Sarah Ruths name to Changed Lives, P.O.
