Joan Garrett

Joan Hickey Garrett died peacefully at home in Chattanooga on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at age 83.She was born in West Chester Pa., to the late George and Glenoline Brownlow Hickey. She was a retired Chattanooga school teacher and a long time volunteer at Erlanger Hospital. She was very active at St. Thaddaeus Episcopal Church where she was in the choir and served as chair of the Altar Guild.Joan was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 43 years, Norman W. Garrett.She is survived by loving nephews and cousins.Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, at St. Thaddaeus.Burial will be in Philadelphia at a date yet to be determined.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the St. Thaddaeus Alter Guild Fund.Arrangements made by Wann Funeral Home, Chattanooga.
