ROCKWOOD Mildred Ruth Hagler Lewis went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, after a brief stay in a local hospital.Ruth was the daughter of the late Oliver F. and Dessie Hagler and widow of the late John H. Lewis.She was born on Sept. 15, 1929 in the Wheat Community, near Oak Ridge. The complete family was moved to Rockwood and resided in the Eureka Community the remainder of her life before moving to the Victorian Square Assisted Living earlier this year.She worked many years as manager of Emerys Stores in Rockwood, but her primary work was that of an excellent wife, homemaker and mother. She will be remembered for her sweet disposition even in the hardest times and because she was loved and appreciated by everyone she met.She is survived by her sister, Nancy (Sonny) Walker, of Union City, Calif.; sons, Larry (Gladys) Lewis, of Crossville and Steve (Donna) Lewis, of Signal Mountain; grandson, Philip (Whitney) Lewis; great-grandsons, Brayden and Landon, of Ringgold, Ga., and Derek Lewis, of Murfreesboro.The family extends a special recognition of appreciation to the pastor and members of her lifelong church, Eureka Baptist Church, and to the staff and residents of Victorian Square Assisted Living; all of which showed great love and compassion for Ruth.Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Mike Winters officiating.Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Evans Mortuary.Memorial contributions may be made to Victorian Square Assisted Living, 241 South Chamberlain Ave., Rockwood, TN 37854, f/b/o Social Activity Fund for other residents.An online register is available at www.evansmortuary.biz.
