Sr.Bennie E. Wilson Sr., 90, a World War II Navy veteran, passed from this life, Saturday, morning, Aug. 25, 2012, at a local nursing home.He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie B. Wilson; daughter, Carolyn M. Wilson; mother, Margarete Estill; and brother, Thomas J. Wilson.Survivors include son, Bennie Jr., Chattanooga; daughter, Mary (Edward) Hicks; grandson, Edward (Leslie) Hicks III; granddaughters, Krystal Patterson, Karen (Rudolph) Branch; and eight great-grandchildren of Palmdale, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews; and special son, Sherman Dennis, of Antioch, Tenn.Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Stanley United Methodist Church, with Dr. Elston D. McLain, Pastor, officiating. Interment in Chattanooga National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
