WHITWELL Myrtle Ellen Morrison Hicks, 101, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012.She was born born Oct. 17, 1910.She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hicks, sons, Albert Hicks, John T. Hicks, Jim Otis Hicks; grandson, Frankie Hicks; parents, Daniel and Credy Slatton Morrison; brothers, Lonnie, Theodore, Joe D., James Morrison; sisters, Bertha Morrison, Minnie Andrus, Lillie Bish and Louise Woznicki.Mrs. Hicks was a member of Palmer Church of God. She also attended Indian Springs Church of God.Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Daniel (Ruth) Hicks, Benny (Vernona) Hicks, of Whitwell, Bertie (Cecil) Jennings, Christine Harmon, of Ringgold; sister, Virgie Taylor, of Crossville; daughters-in-law, Nancy Hicks, of Signal Mountain, Rowena Lockman, of Ringgold; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.Family will receive friends 5-9 p.m. today, Aug. 29, and 1-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, in the Whitwell Church of God of Highway 28 across from Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Higgins, Rev. Mac Kessler and Rev. Bill Smith officiating.Interment at Griffith Creek Cemetery.Arrangements are by Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home 423-658-7777.
