Gene Levi

Claude "Gene" Levi, 76, of Soddy, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born and raised in Soddy and spent his entire life on Soddy Lake. Gene was a 1953 graduate of Soddy High School and was cherished by many of his lifelong classmates. He worked at Fowler Brothers for 34 years and retired from his own business of 15 years, B & L Distributing. He loved traveling with his family and spending time with them as much as possible. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid scuba diver. Gene was a loving husband, father, friend and mentor to his grandchildren. He loved everyone and life and lived it with a passion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Lesta Levi. He is survived by the love of his life and soul mate, Barbara Levi; children, Claude E. (Becky) Levi, Jr., Richard C. (Christie) Levi, Dan E. (Susan) Smith, Ron D. (Angie) Smith and Janet L. (Wayne) Hodges; grandchildren, Claudia Levi Wamack, Brandy S. Grant, Amanda S. May, Laura Lynn Ford, Dan E. Smith, Jr., Jason Smith, Christopher Smith and Wesley Ford, 2 great-granddaughters; and 7 great-grandsons. Services will be held today, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. James Grant officiating.
