Gertrude Broyles

Gertrude Dickerson Broyles, 93, of Soddy-Daisy passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at a local health care facility.She was born in Johnson City, Washington County, Tenn. She lived in Oak Ridge, Tenn., for 26 years before coming to Soddy-Daisy, Tenn. She was employed by J.C. Penneys in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and at J.C. Penneys at North Gate Mall in Hixson, Tenn. She was a member of New Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Broyles; granddaughter, Heather Mixon; grandson, Seth Mixon.She is survived by her daughters, Linda McKenzie, of Sale Creek, Tenn., Deborah Mixon of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Michael Dickerson, of Idaho Falls, ID.; stepsons, Jimmy Broyles, of N.C., Kermit Broyles, of Sale Creek, Tenn.; brothers, Buford Whitman, of Kingsport, Tenn., George Whitman, of Springfield, Va.; 6 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 9, in the funeral home chapel of Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, TN., with the Rev. Lynn Carroll officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport, TN. The family would like to thank the Caregivers at NHC Health Care-Sequatchie for their loving care that they gave to Mrs. Broyles.
